Abstract

Leukopenia is often occured in kidney transplant recipients who received azathioprine (Aza) as immunosuppressive regimen. GM-CSF can be used for early bone marrow reconvery. We report the use of GM-CSF (Lucky-BiotecR, Korea) in 9 cases of
Aza-induced
leukopenic renal transplant recipients. Nin patientss (8male/1 female, mean 36 yr-old, mean posttranplant follow up 18.1 months, mean serum creatinine 3.2 mg/dl) received Aza (mean 97.2 mg/day with prednisone 13.3mg/day) and developed leuk openia
to
1,378/§§of WBC count. These patients were administered CM-CSF with 200~400¥ìg/day s.c. for 3 to 9 days after prompt cessation of Aza. Post GM-CSF therapy mean WBC count were detected.
In conclusion, GM-CSF can be useful for carly bone marrow recovery in leukopenic renal transplant recipients.
